WHEN TO USE SIGNAL INPUTS VS SERVICE INJECTION?

Both signal inputs and service injection are valid ways to share state between components. the key is knowing when to use each.

use Signal inputs when:

• the data is contextual (e.g., filtered products, selected tab, per-page state).

• the child shouldn’t depend on any specific service.

• You want to unit-test the component in isolation.

• the component is meant to be highly reusable and flexible.

use Service injection when:

• the data is application-wide (e.g., cart state, auth state).

• the component needs access to shared logic (e.g., methods like addtoCart()).

• multiple components need to stay in sync without being tightly coupled.

• You want to avoid passing multiple signals through several layers of the tree.

By combining these two patterns, you can keep your components focused, testable, and clean – all while enjoying the power of Signals.

Architectural Note

Angular Signals allow you to rethink component communication as reactive consumption, not imperative messaging. Instead of pushing data through @Input()/@Output() bindings or Subject streams, components simply consume signals, and Angular handles updates automatically.
